Unlocked Apple iPhones
Apple is now offering contract-free unlocked versions of its iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4 devices in Germany. The move is a part of Apple’s attempt to enter as many global markets as possible. The company started offering the unlocked version after Orange and Vodafone started offering the devices the country, ending T-Mobile’s exclusivity.
The Apple devices are now available across the country on a variety of carrier contracts and prices, with some as low as 1 Euros, Apple Insider reports.
The company’s German online stores now offers users the ability to purchase the iPhone from Apple and choose their carrier of choice later.
The devices only work on the GSM network and the iPhone 4 will require a micro-SIM card to work, the company has said.
According to the Apple website in Germany, the iPhone 3GS 8 GB model is available for €519. The iPhone 4 16 GB and 32 GB models are available for €629 and €739 respectively.
