New Twitter
New Twitter has had a make-over – not yet widely available – which expands the amount of information available beyond 140 characters. There’s a new design with two panels instead of the simple single panel. The second panel displays trending tweets, and each tweet can have embedded photos and videos. The stream will also be infinite, doing away with the need to click “more” to see more tweets.
According to the Twitter blog, the new re-engineered Twitter.com “provides an easier, faster, and richer experience”.
“On the site, you’ll see the familiar timeline, yet underneath each tweet is a handful of information, deeper context and even embedded media,” the Twitter blog says. “Simply click on an individual tweet and a details pane slides out on the right and reveals this content.”
The new interface will have more detailed information on each tweet, including details about the author and subject, and geo-tagging, which gives information about where the tweet originated from.
However, most Twitter users won’t notice anything different immediately, as the changes are being rolled out gradually. When you do get the new interface, you will have the ability to switch back and forwards to the old one until you get used to the changes.
The new Twitter is being widely discussed on the micro-blogging site today.
Twitter has partenered with other applications to deliver the new service: DeviantART, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kickstarter, Kiva, Photozou, Plixi, Twitgoo, TwitPic, TwitVid, USTREAM, Vimeo, yfrog, and YouTube.
