Kristen Stewart is out and Hayden Panettiere is in. Well, Stewart still has a full plate with The Yellow Handkerchief and Welcome to the Rileys this year and On The Road and Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn the next. But it is Heroes cheerleader Panettiere who will become Hollywood’s Amanda Knox.
Knox is the real life U.S. exchange student living abroad who was convicted in Italy for the murder of her British roommate. She was sentenced to 26 years in prison. “Knox became an international object of fascination not just because of her wholesome good looks but also because of the unbelievably gruesome facts of the crime,” reported Deadline.com.
The TV movie about Knox has been greenlit, tentatively titled The Amanda Knox Story. It will be produced by Craig Piligian (Ghost Hunters) and directed by Robert Dornhelm and hit the small screen sometime in 2011.
Panettiere recently lent her voice to animated feature Alpha and Omega (read a review) and has been cast in 2011’s Scream 4 alongside Kristen Bell and Anna Paquin.
